SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Coming from one of Lebanon's most distinguished families, GRC's Chairman and CEO Hany Salaam has always been conscious of his duties and obligations towards society as a whole. On his father's side two of Mr Salaam's uncles have served as Prime Minister of Lebanon, whilst his mother's Palestinian background have led him to support the deprived and under-privileged peoples of Palestine.

Mr Salaam helped to fund the Khalidi Library in Jerusalem, a priceless collection of historic Arabic manuscripts, the oldest written over 1,000 years ago. The library was established in 1900 by Mr Salaam's grandfather, Hajj Raghib al-Khalidi, who brought together several ancient collections from different branches of the Khalidi family. Mr Salaam is a Khalidi Library trustee.

Mr Salaam played a major role in providing the founding funds for the Institute of Palestine Studies, the premier research body for all aspects of Palestinian history and contemporary affairs. He is an active member of the Board of Trustees.
